Jessica & Jake’s Coastal Summer Wedding at The Sagamore

There are people who thrive on spontaneity, and then there are people like Jessica, the kind who creates detailed binders for her entire wedding party complete with timelines and rundowns (which became a hilarious inside joke throughout the day). When someone who loves organization (which isn’t a bad thing) marries someone who makes her laugh, who’s caring and selfless, and who she knew was “the one” immediately? You get a wedding day that’s both thoroughly planned and completely stress-free.

That’s exactly what Jessica and Jake created at The Sagamore in Bourne, Massachusetts on a perfect September day.

When You Just Know

Jessica and Jake’s story is beautifully simple. They met on Bumble. Their first date was at Tap City Grille and then Anejo in Hyannis. And they both knew immediately. Not eventually. Not after a few months of dating. Immediately. There’s something really special about that kind of certainty. When you ask them what they love to do together, the answer is everything that makes a good life: having coffee, going on walks with their dog Arya, traveling, taking the boat out, spending time at the beach. The everyday moments and the adventures, all of it better because they’re doing it together.

Jake describes Jess as loving, loyal, and empowered. Jess describes Jake as funny, caring, and selfless. And when you watch them together, you can see all of it. This is what it looks like when two people who knew immediately make it official.

A Classic Cape Cod Celebration

For their wedding, Jessica and Jake chose The Sagamore for two very specific reasons: the proximity to the ocean for their first look, and that gorgeous fountain feature at the ceremony spot. Because when you’re getting married on Cape Cod in September, you want the water close and you want those classic coastal details.

The weather delivered exactly what a September Cape wedding should be. Absolutely perfect. Not too hot, not too cool, just right. The kind of day where everything feels easy.

Their color palette was dusty blue and white, those traditional Cape wedding colors that never go out of style. Jessica wore an elegant sheath gown from Alexandra’s with bardot straps and beautiful ruching on the bodice. Her bridesmaids wore mismatched dresses and suits in dusty blue, giving everyone the freedom to choose their own style while staying cohesive. Jake and his groomsmen looked sharp in navy suits with dusty blue ties.

The whole vibe was coastal summer, refined and cohesive, exactly what they’d envisioned.

The Details That Tell the Story

Here’s what I love about Jessica and Jake’s wedding. Every detail had meaning, every choice told part of their story.

The place cards? Oyster shells that were actually harvested from Jessica’s father’s co-op, each one personalized with a guest’s name. Not just pretty decor, but something that connected their celebration to family, to the Cape, to the place they call home.

Jessica designed the entire invitation suite herself. And if you know anything about designing your own invitations, you know that’s no small feat. It requires vision, attention to detail, and a whole lot of patience. The result was gorgeous, setting the tone for everything that followed.

She also created those now-famous detailed binders for everyone in the wedding party. Complete rundowns of the day, timelines, all the information anyone could possibly need. It became a running joke throughout the day, but honestly? It’s also why everything ran so smoothly. When you plan that thoroughly, you get to actually enjoy the day because you’re not scrambling to figure out what happens next.

And then there were the custom bags Jessica had made for her mother and mother-in-law, each featuring images of her and Jake when they were little. It’s one thing to give your moms a gift on your wedding day. It’s another thing entirely to give them something that honors the journey, the childhood photos of the two people who grew up to find each other and fall in love.

Arya, The Star of the Show

But let’s talk about who really stole the show at this wedding: Arya, Jessica and Jake’s dog. Arya was with Jake while he got ready. She walked down the aisle during the ceremony. She had her own special spot up front during the vows. And during the reception? Her presence was everywhere, along with their cat Tulip’s, thanks to the big head cutouts of both their faces.

Listen, some couples have flower girls. Some have ring bearers. Jessica and Jake had Arya as an integral part of their entire day, and honestly, it was perfect. Because when you love having coffee and going on walks with your dog, when she’s part of your everyday life together, of course she’s going to be part of the day you say “I do.”

Those big head cutouts became one of the most memorable details of the entire celebration. Guests were posing with them, laughing with them, taking photos. It was playful and silly and completely authentic to who Jessica and Jake are.

Family at the Heart of Everything

Jake’s brother Joe officiated the ceremony, which added such a personal touch to an already intimate celebration. There’s something incredibly special about having someone who knows you, who’s watched your relationship grow, be the one to pronounce you married.

And that fountain ceremony spot at The Sagamore? With the ocean nearby and the perfect September weather and Jake’s brother officiating and Arya in her special spot up front? It was exactly right.

When Planning Meets Presence

Here’s the thing about thoroughly planned weddings. They can go one of two ways. Either the planning takes over and the day becomes about executing a perfect timeline, or the planning creates the space for you to actually be present and enjoy every moment.

Jessica and Jake’s wedding was the second kind. Yes, everything was meticulously organized (those binders!). Yes, every detail was intentional and meaningful. But the day itself felt stress-free and joyful. The planning wasn’t about control, it was about creating the conditions for celebration.

You could see it in the way they moved through the day. The first look by the ocean, the ceremony by the fountain with Arya and Joe and all the people they love, the reception with oyster shell place cards and custom bags and big head cutouts and so much laughter. Everything flowed because they’d thought it through, but nothing felt rigid because they were fully present for all of it.

What They’ll Treasure Years From Now

When Jessica and Jake press play on their wedding film twenty years from now, they’re going to see so much more than a beautiful coastal wedding. They’re going to remember what it felt like to know immediately that you’ve found your person.

They’ll hear Joe’s voice during the ceremony, see Arya walking down the aisle with that special spot waiting for her up front. They’ll watch themselves exchange vows by that fountain with the ocean nearby. They’ll see those oyster shell place cards from her father’s co-op, each guest’s name written with care.

They’ll remember the joke about the binders, the big head cutouts that made everyone laugh, the custom bags they gave their moms. They’ll see the dusty blue and white, those classic Cape colors that made everything feel timeless and refined.

But mostly, they’ll feel what it was like to be surrounded by that kind of love. The thorough planning that came from wanting everyone to have the best experience. The personal touches that connected their celebration to family and place and the life they’re building together. The certainty they both felt from that very first date, now made official in front of everyone who matters.

Because that’s what their wedding film really preserves. Not just the events of a perfect September day at The Sagamore, but the feeling of knowing immediately and choosing eachother every day since. The coffee and the walks with Arya and the boat trips and the beach days, all leading to this moment by the fountain, saying yes to a lifetime of it all.

That’s worth preserving.
